October 17, 2013

Yesterday was Chris' birthday, we had a great time.

Sharon, one of our contributors, has been a HUGE blessing during our visits.  She is teaching me some sewing skills, which I lack considerably.  She sent a box of goodies.  Praise God for her -- what a blessing for me.

We are one day closer to getting our new machine delivered.  Please make sure you think about us and pray/meditate for us in the next two weeks.  They will be cruicial in making certain we get things all set for fall.

I'm supposed to have professional pictures taken of the house and the property -- we have so many trees that, if the wind doesn't blow off all of our leaves, we will have a yard full of color over the next two weeks.  So, wish us luck for a bright, sunny day and that I get my house cleaned before the photographer shows up.  It is really nice of her -- she is doing it for free so that she can add some additional pictures to her portfolio.  So, a win/win situation.

Not certain if I've shared this quilt before, but I love it so I wanted to share it with all.

As a very important note:  Please provide me with a current address.  I've tried to send gifts to both Kathy and Sharon, yet they keep getting returned.  I will try again tomorrow.

Also, one last thing -- I'm in the need for some different sized walker bags.  I have a small lady who has a smaller walker.  AND...I have quite a large man who has a MUCH larger walker than what I'm used to.  So, some larger samples and smaller samples are needed.  I still continue to visit with people -- I love hearing their stories.  They are all sad when I arrive empty handed.  I can't wait to get the machine so that I can, once again, be the bearer of good things once again.

I found two machines on a free (!!!) site, but didn't get my name in quick enough to receive either machine.  Let's hope that opportunity comes up again.  Thanks!

In Christs' Service,

Kay

October 13, 2013

Once again, a note on a personal side.  First, went to a craft show and some garage sales.  Met wonderful folks and God really blessed me with some great bargains!  Went to a few Goodwill stores but nothing yielded a sewing machine.  Couldn't find anything on Craigslist -- so not a lot of luck.  But, we have next weekend -- so lets keep trying and praying!

Second, we spent my husbands birthday on a wonderful evening at our local dinner and a show.  How much fun!  I'm showing his picture today in honor of his birthday, but most important, because he's such a patient and hard work for our charity.

Third, remember we had two surprises this week?  It's time to reveal the the second surprise.  We have our own phone number!  Yay!  It is (224) 888-1463.  I really liked this phone number, because it's
224 888 1GOD.  And, as long as we keep God number first -- who can stand against us?  Nobody!  Amen.

Until next week -- Kay

October 8, 2013

Okay, remember I said that I had two pieces of good news to share this week?  Well, here is the first one:  We have our FIRST Small Business sponsor!!!  He has agreed to an initial gift of $100.  And an ongoing gift of $50.00 per week for the first 4 weeks, and $25.00 a week for 6 months.  After that, he will re-evaluate his giving and our needs and we'll go from there.

Isn't that just a GREAT BIG BLESSING!!!!  Wow.  God's grace is unending.  So, let me take a minute to say thank you to our sponsor (who chooses to remain anonymous, or I'd have his name posted all over this site), and say that we still need 4 or 5 more to maintain our charity.  However, this is a BLESSING post, so I just want to bask in the Glory that God has led this man to us, and how He leads is how we will follow.

I will mention that I didn't know this fellow -- in fact, he is from a different state.  However, it was because someone that I did know share our needs with him that our sponsor decided to come along and work by our side.  Although he couldn't give a specific, he could give a gift of money and a gift of prayer.  Both of those gifts are welcomed!  Yay!

I've been so blessed this week, both personally and spiritually.  I have seen miraculous wonders and know that the week has just began.   I want to personally thank EVERYONE who continues to support us through prayers.  Prayers change things!!!  I look forward to sharing many blessings with you in days to come.

We continue to be in need of a sewing machine, so please keep that in your thoughts.  We continue to need fabric coming in (so that I will have enough to fill the "back orders" we have coming through).  I call them backorders -- but how can someone "order" something through us?  Well, they can't, really.  It would be more appropriate to call them "back requests".  People who have asked me for bags and other things.  And I take their name down, and tell them as soon as we get a machine, we'll get these right out to them.   Anyway, my list is long.  So, if you're led by God, now is a good time to send.

I've started taking pictures of my studio, and will promise to post a WAY better tutorial -- I'm so embarrassed of the one I posted that I want to take it down from the website because it doesn't capture the quality of work we produce -- and will promise to post more pictures of past projects.  Today, I'm posting a picture of my daughter, because she just looks so happy and I feel as happy as she looks!  I should try to figure out how to quilt that picture.  I have seen other people quilt pictures.  I'm not to that skill, and of course, it'd be last on my "to do" list, but I'd like to keep this picture of my happy daughter in my mind.  I'm on top of the world knowing that, because of *you* the reader, we are making a difference in this world.

Love in Christ,

Kay

October 7, 2013

First, let me say that we had some disappointments over the weekend as far as machines go -- but we are called to be good steward of Gods blessings.  I did my due diligence, determined the value of the machine, went as high as I could -- but there was always someone there with just that next bid that took me out of the running.  That is okay -- God will provide when the time is right.

I don't want to spoil it for you -- but be looking for 2 really awesome announcements this week.  I have to keep the suspense building so you'll keep coming back.  I updated the website -- pay close attention to the "Experimental Expansion" button on the inspiration page.

My overall idea is to have one website, then have offshoots from there.  GodsGoodGraces.com should be my mainsite, with walkertote.com as an offshoot from there.  Here we will discuss walkertotes and all things walkertotes related.

Another page I want is quiltgifter.com -- and that way I can take the quilts off of this page, and dedicate an entire website for just them. Also, I think just concentrate on one idea per website will keep the site uncluttered and easier to traverse.

Another webpage I want is ChrisandKayWood.com -- where I can keep people uptodate on our personal lives and the miracles and wonders that we get to share with God.  That way, people of all faiths can feel comfortable perusing walkertote.com or other sites that we may have.  (although I will continue to give God all the glory for His grace).

So, I have a lot of work to do while my machine is down.  I'm not an idle person by nature, so getting out there and trying for sponsors, as well as trying to get the word out about the site, as well as getting these sites split are keeping me busy.  But never too busy for my friends -- so feel free to email me and we can chat.

Love in Christ for now,

Kay Wood

October 2nd, 2013

My stash of books

My stash needing to be sorted

My hanging Stash

My stash needing to be mailed, or sorted

The last roll of my backing fabric -- I'll probably guard this to the very end.

First, let me thank my ever-faithful followers and contributors.  Let's do a give away for those who leave comments, since I don't seem to be getting many comments.  Also, I need to include a "Blogs I always look at" section.  Does anyone have a clue how to do this?  There are many people I follow, for ideas, for inspirations, for actual step by step instructions, for socialization.  How to I link to their pages?  I will be trying to figure that out today.

Second, I need my machine fixed very badly.  I've added another $60.00 to the budget by cancelling my hotel reservations for my sisters wedding and opting to stay in the car, instead (I don't suggest or encourage anyone else to do this).  But, this project is so close to my heart, so I willingly choose to do this.  It didn't cost me anything to cancel the reservation, and I will buy batting with the money.  I started hand sewing those areas that I could to keep the bags going out.

But, I sure could use help promoting this site.  I know -- the economy is in such a disarray right now, that it is hard to convince people to give to others.  But, I know there are people out there that are  in the position to give, that are being called by God, they just need the extra inspiration.  Well, it is my intent to nudge them this way.  We are doing such a wonderful work!  Let's keep up this tradition.  Please don't stop sending -- as soon as my machine gets back up, I'll be zipping through these backorders, and using fabric so fast it'll make your head spin.  So, I am going to use this time to learn my web capabilities, and to learn some new techniques, and to build my stash so that when the time comes, I'm ready in full force.

One more thing, if you are luckily enough to find someone who God sends our way, they can go to GodsGoodGraces.com and use the Paypal Donate link there (I have no idea why I can't use that button on walkertote.com) Or, they can just directly put a cash donation in PayPal under myfacegame.com.  Please have them add their address so that I can receipt to them every cent so they realize that the money is being used for walkertote.com.  I have only created one project for personal reasons, and I made certain that I had the donators permission first.  Otherwise, everything has, and it is my intent that it always will be, used for walkertote.com (or quiltergifter.com, if it is a quilt that is given).

Love in Christ,

Kay
